چکیده

Nearly all of India's regions' water sources endure an intolerable burden harmful pollution. Aquatic contamination is a result waste product discharge and anthropogenic runoff. The environment has turned into repository for chemical contaminants that seep estuaries other aquatic environments, immobilising the biota, including heavy metals. Heavy metals like chromium can be both helpful destructive to living things. It highly carcinogenic poisonous. Chemical are released by numerous enterprises. Chromium among many present in these disposals. Because Channa punctatus readily available popularly consumed freshwater fish, it was selected as test species. experiment conducted over course 28 days 4 distinct aquariums, 3 which contained at various concentrations (Group 2- LC50/5; 20 mg/l, Group 3- LC50/10; 10 4- LC50/20; 5 mg/l), one aquarium 1) served control. With increase concentration metal, exposed fish exhibited more irregular swimming became sluggish. Moreover, chromosome damage induced exposure increased production micronuclei interphase cells toxicant concentration. findings indicated acute toxicity significant negative impact on normal histology brain, genotoxicity behaviour, may population ultimately humans who eat fish.

Evaluation of Genotoxicity Induced by Medicinal Plant Jatropha gossypifolia in Freshwater Fish Channa punctatus (Bloch)

The genotoxic and mutagenic potential of medicinal plant Jatropha gossypifolia, was investigated in fresh water fish Channa punctatus in the present study using micronucleus assay and comet assay. Fishes were exposed at 20% and 40% of the 24 h-LC50 value of plant extract containing Apigenin (76.48 mg L ) and crude latex (22.33 mg L). Both the test chemicals induced significant (P<0.05) genotoxi...

Biomarkers of monocrotophos in a freshwater fish Channa punctatus (Bloch).

Activity of a few biomarkers have been investigated on freshwater fish Channa punctatus treated with monocrotophos for acute exposure to 18.56 ppm at 96 hr and subacute exposure viz. 0.46 ppm, 0.96 ppm and 1.86 ppm for 30 days. Biomarkers such as total protein, lipid peroxidation and acetylcholinesterase have been measured in different tissues of fish viz. gills, liver, brain and muscles. The p...

Effect of Arsenic (As2o3) on Haemetological Parameters of Freshwater Air Breathing Fish, Channa punctatus (Bloch)

Arsenic is a naturally occurring element found widely in the environment. However, on recent days the level of arsenic in the environment has increased several folds due to its use as pesticide, defoliant, electronics, thermal power plants, wood preservatives and metal industry. Arsenic has been reported as one of the most alarming chemical in the environment [1], present in different forms and...
